Octane Digital may be a newcomer to the Auckland digital printing scene, but its
principals Richard Nugent and Simon Taylor between them boast 65 years of ink in
their veins. Previously the owner of two large offset printing companies, Nugent
brings his vast know-how on all facets of the industry to the new digital enterprise.
Taylor's background in personalization, variable data, colour management, and all
aspects of digital and offset printing, IT and desktop publishing software is a
perfect complement.
Their experience has given the partners a valuable edge in choosing the best equipment
for the new company. The workhorse is an HP Indigo 5500 seven-colour press that
allows Octane Digital to provide an end-to-end digital printing solution from offset
quality colour printing, including one-to-one marketing and mailing services with
variable data, high capacity large format production, to professional print finishing
services.
Integral to total business management is the E Pro system from Hexicom Software
(Print MIS Pacific Reseller) to manage estimating and internal workflow. "After
considering a multitude of systems, we opted for E Pro as the easiest and most straight
forward MIS system for our budget," said Taylor. "We installed it two weeks after
start up and it was up and running quoting, creating job bags and invoicing in a
day.
"The creation of item libraries for commonly estimated products such as business
cards, A4, A3 sheets and the like makes things easy as we are a two man band, and
the ability to create quick quotes while you're busy finishing or printing is a
great time saver. With digital being short run, low dollar value you can't afford
to spend much time quoting. Our customers get their quotes faster and with some
of our customers, first quote in gets the job. "E Pro has a raft of reports which
help to see what your cash flow is, sales for the day, month, top customers. Hexicom
(Print MIS Pacific Reseller) has been great to deal with, answering all our questions.
Their remote support has been outstanding as well; they just log in and you can
see them upgrade and make changes," Taylor added.

invested €1.5 million in its IT infrastructure and part of the expansion was to
initiate bespoke development on our existing print estimating system which fortunately
for us did not materialize. We approached Print MIS late May 2007 and signed up
to testing the beta version of its new print management system prior to a general
release. And what can I say 'a truly remarkable team with exceptional software that
will give every other MIS supplier a higher level to aim for'.
BRENTWOOD, England: July 18, 2005. SES PRINT and Print MIS today announced that
SES PRINT will deploy the E Pro Print Management Solution. Clinical requirement for
their Software Management Solution was to pull together estimating, job and
stock management systems into an easy to use unified solution.
Matthew Day, Director of SES PRINT, was careful to pick a solution that is easy to use and will expand with his developing business. "E Pro has this wonderfully simple interface that shields the user from the program's enormous functional power," said Day. "Stability, ease of use and scalability are all key requirements of a complete management solution. E Pro ticks all these boxes, and then some. It's perfect for the Printing Industry."
Day continues, "Print MIS created a fantastic package for us, representing remarkable value for money when compared to their competitors. They furnished us with first class technical support during our evaluation and really gave the impression of a dynamic company with clear vision. In my opinion, Print MIS have raised the bar and are setting new standards in Print Management."
